History

Sunshine coast reconciliation group inc

Sunshine Coast Reconciliation Group Incorporated (SCRGI) was the first reconciliation group in Queensland. It was formed in 1997 as a result of the final report in April 1991 by the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. It grew from the Caloundra Catholic Church social justice group and remains committed to social justice with religious and political neutrality.

The 3 foundation members were – Dawn Wilson, Beryl Procopis and Claire Bevlin. Since then SCRG has supported many Indigenous causes with donations of goods, services, money and by serving on committees, attending functions and organising events that support First Nations people.

It is supported by, and supports, many other groups and organisations, both large and small, in the Sunshine Coast community.

Our Mission is to advance the process of reconciliation with the Traditional Custodians of this land now known as Australia.
