David is our model for an excellent ally.
David has worked with First Nations people since 1968 as an activist and an academic Educator.
He has taught at universities in South Australia, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast.
He has worked as a consultant on anti-racism & ‘Indigenous Affairs’ for Commonwealth and State governments as well as many First Nations organisations.
He has worked extensively with the Stolen Generations Alliance and Sorry Day Committee.
He is one of the authors of the Bringing them Home Report, has written reports on combating racism in the Northern Territory, national sorry day addresses, and numerous other speeches and addresses – often where he is not credited.
He has also published widely on Aboriginal health, politics, white privilege and anti-racism campaigns including the first iteration of the Sunshine Coast Council’s Shine a Light on Racism campaign.
David has worked largely behind the scenes, not collecting accolades or even recognition. He stands with and supports First Nations people to have their voice heard. He is our un-sung hero and a valuable mentor for our ‘reconciliation’ community.
David generously donated much of his personal library to SCRGI last year and we will have selected items for loan via our website in the near future.
We look forward to his advice for us today!
